Business Situation :-
Customer, being a leading provider in its field, was looking to streamline their mainstream transcription processes by bringing in automation. Part of this initiative was to automate the process of obtaining dictations from vendors and to post corresponding transcriptions. This involved workflow optimization and distributed server architecture. Customer sought out Proteans for the primary reason being that Proteans had a good track record of executing projects based on Service based architecture on .NET with intricate workflows. Proteans had executed projects with distributed architecture relying on Smart Clients to get ease of usage, deployment and upgrades.
Solution :-
A solution to the automation requirement entailed integration with vendors with potentially different platforms, other than Windows/.NET ASP.NET.
Web Services was the obvious choice with the Web Services infrastructure assuring the necessary cross platform interoperability.
The solution also leveraged the best of the latest technologies like WSE (Web Service Enhancements) for downloading dictations. The overall solution was efficient and enabled Customer to seamless handle thousands of dictations into their system. The design of the system also facilitated easy archiving and reconciliation of transcriptions to corresponding dictations.
A customer service module was developed with EMR integration. The whole application was designed to cater to local bandwidth constraints and intermittent connections.
