Learning and Innovation form a key part of Proteans culture. We realize the differences between learning and innovation, and make sure that both of them are firmly imbibed in each one of us.
We realize both learning and innovation through our “ICP” program (Individual Contribution Plan). Under this plan, every employee participates in one of the six research streams and contributes towards some fixed quarterly goals. These streams are:
- Code Complete – The name is obviously inspired from Steve McConnel’s “Code Complete” (for .NET) book and aims at educating everybody/researching on the best coding practices. More importantly, this team works towards implementing and improving “Test Driven Development” and “Continuous Integration”.
- IP Development – This team focuses on developing tools and techniques for improving efficiency on .NET development. This team is also involved in developing User Interface and Server controls in .NET to enable Rapid Application Development for our customers.
- Test Lab – The Test Lab is primarily responsible to research and implement the best software testing practices at Proteans. The team involved standardizes the processes, works on developing new test tools and frameworks for automating the test environment, test data generation and of course, GUI testing.
- Leadership – The leadership stream is responsible to provide everybody in Proteans to improve their soft and leadership skills. The team researches and helps everybody learn skills like communication, presentation, time management, motivation, negotiation etc.
- Customer Research – This team works with the Proteans sales and marketing team to research on prospective customers to understand the customers’ products, technology and competitors.
- NewTech – This team focuses on introducing new technologies to the skill stack of Proteans. The team learns one technology at a time, develops prototypes and proof of concept applications and finally trains everybody in that area.
